Roulette in Europe

Single zero everywhere, French rules in many places, and the most mature online markets in the world.

Short answer

European floors run single-zero wheels, often with la partage or en prison. Online, the UK and most EU states license operators under national regulators; live studios in Latvia, Malta, Lithuania and Romania serve the continent.

Where live roulette comes from

Most European (and many global) live tables are dealt from studios in Riga, Malta, Vilnius and Bucharest, with smaller studios in Georgia, Spain and the UK. A player in Stockholm, Madrid and Manchester may be watching the same wheel. Studios hold licenses in each market they serve, and the wheel’s rules (single zero, la partage or not) are set per table and shown in the info panel.

How Live Roulette Works

Online regulation

The UK’s 2005 Gambling Act created the first comprehensive remote-gambling license; most EU states have since moved from monopolies to licensing (Denmark 2012, Netherlands 2021, Germany 2021, Finland planned 2027). Licenses bring certified RNGs, audited live studios, deposit limits, self-exclusion registers (GAMSTOP in the UK, OASIS in Germany, Spelpaus in Sweden) and dispute resolution. France is the notable exception for online casino games, licensing only poker and betting.
