Live Studio Comparison
Where live roulette is filmed, who licenses it, and what changes between a Riga studio, a Maltese one, a Manila one and a Pennsylvania one.

Most live roulette on European screens comes from Riga; Malta hosts the licenses and several studios; Manila serves Asia; Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Michigan have in-state studios because US law requires it. The wheel is the same everywhere. The pace, the languages, the regulator and the hours differ.
Why studios cluster
A live studio needs cheap floor space, reliable fiber, a pool of multilingual dealers willing to work nights and a regulator that certifies the equipment. Riga had all four by 2010 and the largest operators built there; Malta supplied the licenses and later the studios; Manila added an Asian time zone and languages; the US states that legalized online casinos required the cameras to be inside their borders, so each got a studio.

For a player the regulator is the important one: the license on the operator decides your protections, not the studio’s address.
Game shows and multipliers
Lightning-style roulette (random multipliers of 50× to 500× on a few straight-up numbers each round, paid for by cutting the standard straight-up payout from 35 to 29) is a studio product that started in Riga and spread to every hub. The edge stays at 2.70% on the other bets and rises to about 2.9% on the straight-up bets that carry the multiplier chance. The Game Show Multipliers page has the arithmetic.
Choosing a studio, if you can
You usually cannot: your operator chooses, and the lobby shows you tables by product rather than city. What you can choose is the product: a standard single-zero table at a slow pace from a licensed operator in your own jurisdiction. Questions
The wheel is the same and both are filmed and logged. Your protection comes from the operator’s license in your country, not from the studio.
Because online casino law in each state requires the gaming equipment to be physically located there. The result is a few small studios serving one state each.
Manila and the speed tables in Riga: 25–35 second rounds, roughly double a standard table’s spins per hour.
Comic relief

Same wheel in every city. The license is the part that varies.
